Testers ready for high speed uplink
packet access
Rohde and Schwarz is supporting the introduction of HSUPA with T and M solutions for layer 1 testing, signal and spectrum analysis and signal generation.
High speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) has long been known as a powerful enhancement to WCDMA Its counterpart, the new high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA) standard, will be launched in 2007

Rohde and Schwarz is supporting the introduction of HSUPA with T and M solutions for layer 1 testing, signal and spectrum analysis and signal generation.
The R and S FSQ, FSP and FSU signal and spectrum analysers, the R and S SMU200A, SMJ100A and SMATE200A signal generators, and layer 1 test software for the R and S CRTU-W and CRTU-M are all equipped with HSUPA functionality.
The company already offers a complete range of HSDPA T and M equipment.

Rohde and Schwarz has developed the first package of test scenarios to test interoperability between the NTT DoCoMo network and third-generation mobile radio phones.
Log-periodic antenna covers a big band

Radiocommunications tester takes HSDPA onboard
The CMU200 is the world's first and only radiocommunications tester with HSDPA functionalities already implemented.
HSUPA will provide the same advantages for the uplink that HSDPA already does for the downlink - increased datarates and throughput and reduced access times.
datarates of several megabits per second will also be possible with HSUPA.
For subscribers, the combination of HSDPA and HSUPA considerably shortens the access times to an application.
To support manufacturers of user equipment and network components in developing HSUPA solutions, Rohde and Schwarz has already adapted some of its T and M instruments to the new requirements.
In addition, the company is actively involved on the ETSI standardisation committee creating HSDPA and HSUPA test cases.
For the R and S CRTU-W and CRTU-M protocol testers, Rohde and Schwarz has added the new standard to its layer 1 test software.
In addition to HSDPA, the test software now also supports tests on layer 1 implementations for HSUPA user equipment.
The test software simulates the layer 1 behaviour of a basestation.
It can generate complex HSUPA downlink signals at layer 1 and test their reception and processing in the layer 1 UE implementation under test.
The test software provides many possible configurations for the transport channels defined in HSDPA and HSUPA as well as for the physical channels.
An additional scripting interface facilitates the automated execution of test scenarios.
For the R and S FSQ, FSP and FSU signal and spectrum analysers, Rohde and Schwarz has added HSUPA to the R and S FS-K72/-K73/-K74 application firmware packages.
Besides HSDPA, they provide comprehensive functions for transmitter measurements on HSUPA basestations and modules.
R and S FS-K74 firmware is integrated into R and S FS-K72 and makes it possible to test modulation for HSDPA and HSUPA signals in the downlink.
HSDPA and HSUPA signals in the uplink are covered by R and S FS-K73.
For the vector signal generators of the R and S SMx family, the SMx-K45 software option provides an HSUPA update.
The R and S SMU200A, SMATE200A and SMJ100A can thus generate HSUPA signals for measurements on basestations, modules and user equipment.
The R and S SMx K45 features channel coding and also makes the fixed reference channels defined in the 3GPP standard available to the user.
HSDPA signals in the uplink and downlink can be generated with the R and S SMx K43 options.
The HSUPA T and M solutions for layer 1 testing, signal generation and signal and spectrum analysis are now available from Rohde and Schwarz. Request a free brochure from Rohde and Schwarz ...
