Signal generators gain HSUPA capability

Rohde and Schwarz has expanded its range of options for the R and S SMU200A, R and S SMATE200A and R and S SMJ100A signal generators by adding HSUPA capability.

Rohde and Schwarz has expanded its range of options for the R and S SMU200A, R and S SMATE200A and R and S SMJ100A signal generators by adding HSUPA capability Using the new R and S SMx-K45 option, users can now perform tests using HSUPA signals on receivers in basestations and mobile phones as well as on modules and power amplifiers

High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) has long been known as a powerful enhancement to WCDMA.

Its counterpart, the new High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) standard, will be launched in 2007.

HSUPA will provide the same advantages for the uplink that HSDPA already does for the downlink - increased datarates and throughput and reduced access times.

datarates of several megabits per second will also be possible with HSUPA.

For subscribers, the combination of HSDPA and HSUPA considerably shortens the access time to an application.

The new option enhances the functionality of the three signal generators of the R and S SMx family, adding the capability to generate all physical channels required for HSUPA.

These include the E-DPDCH and E-DPCCH data and control channels for uplink simulation and the E-AGCH, E-RGCH and E-HICH control channels for downlink simulation.

Rohde and Schwarz is the world's only supplier to integrate HSUPA signals with channel coding in the instrument.

The R and S SMx-K45 also generates all fixed reference channels defined by the standard that are required for receiver tests on HSUPA-compatible basestations.

The R and S SMx-K45 HSUPA option is now available from Rohde and Schwarz.

The tried-and-tested options R and S SMx-K42 for 3GPP FDD and R and S SMx-K43 for HSDPA are also available.

Rohde and Schwarz expanded the R and S SMx-K43 to include the F-DPCH channel, which was defined as a new channel in the standard.

With the three options installed, the R and S SMx family of signal generators offers a dependable, all-in-one solution for the generation of 3GPP FDD, HSDPA and HSUPA signals. Request a free brochure from Rohde and Schwarz ...
