News Release from: Rohde and Schwarz | Subject: UMA/GAN test cases for CRTU-G protocol tester
Edited by the Electronicstalk Editorial Team on 12 March 2007

UMA/GAN capability for protocol tester.

Instrument company adds UMA/GAN test cases to its protocol tester to support the extension of mobile phone capabilities to additional wireless networks.

Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology has been developed by several leading mobile radio companies, under the auspices of the UMA Alliance, to enable mobile phones to function not only in the mobile radio network but also in other wireless networks This technology will soon allow mobile phone calls to be made using WLAN technologies

In the meantime, UMA has been standardised by 3GPP under the designation Generic Access Network (GAN).

To support mobile phone and chipset developers as well as test houses in validating such user equipment, Rohde and Schwarz has now added UMA/GAN test cases to the R and S CRTU-G protocol tester.

The registration procedure package is the first from a total of five test case packages for the UMA/GAN certification.

It makes sure that the registration procedure for user equipment defined by 3GPP is carried out correctly and checks the equipment's behaviour in the event of an error.

For this purpose, only a PC and an access point are necessary.

The test cases run in conjunction with the R and S CRTU-G and integrate seamlessly into its user interface.

Rohde and Schwarz thus offers a complete hardware and software solution for UMA/GAN from a single source.

The R and S CRTU-UC02 test cases for the UMA/GAN registration procedure are now available from Rohde and Schwarz. Request a free brochure from Rohde and Schwarz ...
