WCDMA conformance tester switches to R and D
In addition to WCDMA conformance testing, the R and S CRTU-W from Rohde and Schwarz can now also be used for signalling tests in research and development.
This includes measurements on mixers, amplifiers, convertors and wafers, as well as antenna measurements in radar/satellite applications.
Featuring an output power of more than 18dBm, a dynamic range greater than 150dB and a measurement speed of 3.5us per test point, the RandS ZVA40 is the ideal tool for RandD in microwave applications.
Whenever measurements require high RF performance or a user needs to characterise the DUT in the operating state, a flexible and powerful network analyser is necessary.

Test cases check NTT DoCoMo interoperability
Rohde and Schwarz has developed the first package of test scenarios to test interoperability between the NTT DoCoMo network and third-generation mobile radio phones.
With the RandS ZVA40, Rohde and Schwarz adds another high-end instrument to its RandS ZVx network analyser family, which now includes models with two to eight test ports for the frequency range up to 40GHz.
The second generator, which is included in all four-port instruments, allows intermodulation measurements on amplifiers and conversion gain measurements on mixers and convertors and thus eliminates the need for an additional external source.
The second generator can be set independently of the first source, which makes it easy to configure measurements and to perform them quickly.
Moreover, users can flexibly configure test sets and integrate external components for specific measurements, for example, with an input power greater than 18 dBm.
The RandS ZVA40 is also ideally suited for carrying out entire multiport and balanced measurements up to 40GHz.
The easy installation of the calibration kit on the wafer and a complete system error calibration ensure the required measurement accuracy.
For these and other applications, the RandS ZVA40 offers high measurement accuracy in addition to being unbeatable with respect to dynamic range, output power, power sweep range and measurement speed.
Like the other instruments of the network analyser family, the RandS ZVA40 features an easy and intuitive operating concept.
The user doesn't have to be a specialist in network analysis to be able to perform sophisticated measurements quickly and generate comprehensive documentation.
Convenient wizards explain all important operating steps by displaying them as graphics, and provide all the basic settings.
In addition, extensive online help including detailed examples is provided.
Various instrument setups can be stored on the integrated hard disk and recalled by pressing a button or using the mouse or a control command.
For each trace, up to 20001 points can be measured and evaluated by means of convenient marker and analysis functions.
Other highlights of the RandS ZVA40 include flexible display options, versatile mathematical functions, an embedding/de-embedding function using virtual networks for impedance matching as well as comprehensive automatic calibration functions. Request a free brochure from Rohde and Schwarz ...
