Cost-effective source covers all major
RF bands
Mid-range signal source is designed to answer user requirements for high signal quality, wide flexibility and low operating costs.
New from Rohde and Schwarz, the R and S SMB100A is a mid-range signal source that has been designed to answer user requirements for high signal quality, wide flexibility and low operating costs With its low SSB phase noise of typically -128dBc and its high output level of at least +18dBm across a wide frequency range (1MHz to 6GHz), the signal generator claims new standards

WCDMA conformance tester switches to R and D
In addition to WCDMA conformance testing, the R and S CRTU-W from Rohde and Schwarz can now also be used for signalling tests in research and development.
Testers support new digital TV standard
Rohde and Schwartz produces both operating equipment and test instruments for new DVB-H digital TV standard.
The fact that users can perform maintenance on the instrument themselves also increases availability and reduces operating costs.
The instrument's light weight (5.3kg), compact design and favourable price/performance ratio complement the concept.
As an RF source with a frequency range of 9kHz to 6GHz, the R and S SMB100A covers all important frequency bands for RF applications.
The conventional analogue AM/FM and PhiM modulation modes as well as frequency sweep, level sweep, and LF sweep are also available as standard.
In production, the R and S SMB100A excels with high accuracy and repeatability.
Its short switchover times for frequency and level help maintain high throughput.
All this makes the R and S SMB100A suitable for use in the production and servicing of broadcasting, EMC and automotive products as well as for semiconductor development tests and aerospace and defence applications.
Here, the pulse modulator (typically 90dB on/off ratio), which is available as an option, and the flexible pulse generator with a minimum pulsewidth of 20ns are of special benefit.
Additional properties that make the instrument ideal for these applications are its robust design and the fact that it can be used at altitudes up to 4600m and within a temperature range from 0 to 55C.
To make servicing as easy and cost-effective as possible, the R and S SMB100A enables users to perform maintenance on their own.
When service becomes necessary, an integrated self-test routine can be used during troubleshooting.
As replacement modules are precalibrated, a simple function check is sufficient to ensure the excellent technical data of the signal generator.
With the help of the R and S NRP-Z92 power sensor, users can also optimise the level accuracy of the RF signal by means of automatic adjustment.
