TV analyser handles MPEG-2 streams
The R and S ETL TV analyser combines the functions of a RF TV analyser, an MPEG-2 analyser and a spectrum analyser, transforming it into a universal test platform.
The R and S ETL TV analyser from Rohde and Schwarz now includes features and options for MPEG-2 transport streams The instrument combines the functions of an RF TV analyser, an MPEG-2 analyser and a spectrum analyser, transforming it into a universal test platform

Testers support new digital TV standard
Rohde and Schwartz produces both operating equipment and test instruments for new DVB-H digital TV standard.
This enables network operators to perform all required measurements on TV transmitters as well as cable head ends, both when setting up systems and placing them into operation as well as when performing service or maintenance.
In the production of TV transmitters or modulators, the R and S ETL is suitable for quality assurance.
It supports ATSC, DVB-T/-H, DTMB, DAB and DVB-C as well as the most common analogue TV standards.

Log-periodic antenna covers a big band
The HL033 is a linearly polarised log-periodic antenna suitable for general transmission and reception applications in the frequency range from 80MHz to 2 GHz.
The R and S ETL can also be used for coverage measurements in the field in order to optimise transmissions.
The analysis functions have a level of detail that could previously be achieved only by using separate professional instruments.
Rather than three instruments, the user now needs only the compact R and S ETL.
Since all measurements run on a single platform, time-consuming switchovers between separate test instruments are eliminated.
The graphical user interface is easy to use and several features have been included to speed operation.
For example, users do not have to re-enter the frequency or channel bandwidth for each measurement.
The R and S ETL offers a comprehensive overview of all relevant operating parameters.
Measurement results are immediately output on the display, thus permitting direct comparison of the data.
The source of errors can be quickly and fully pinpointed and documented.
The R and S ETL can handle detailed MPEG-2 analysis.
It provides data about the composition of the transport stream, reveals information about the contents of the individual MPEG tables and determines the bit rates of programs and data contents.
The optional MPEG-2/H.264/MPEG-4 decoder can output the measured TV signal on the integrated display of the R and S ETL even if the signal itself is encoded in high-definition (HD) format.
This gives the user detailed information about the quality of the transmitted signal.
For MPEG-2 analysis with the R and S ETL, the following options are available: the R and S ETL-B280 MPEG processing board, the R and S ETL-K282 MPEG analysis/ monitoring option, the R and S ETL-K283 in-depth analysis option, the R and S ETL-K285 option with transport-stream template monitoring functionality as well as the R and S ETL-B281 video and audio hardware decoder.
