World's smallest claim for tiny reed switch
At just 5mm long, Rhopoint Components reckons the RI-80 reed switch is the smallest reed switch available today.
At just 5mm long, Rhopoint Components reckons the RI-80 reed switch is the smallest reed switch available today.
The RI-80 is ideal for use in size-restricted sensor applications in medical electronics, such as pacemakers, endoscopes and hearing aids, as well as miniature industrial position sensors.
It also has applications in consumer electronics, where it can be used in laptops, PDAs, mobile phones and battery operated applications.
Additionally, being rated at 5W, this reed switch is well suited for high-reliability small-signal ATE.
This ultramicro single-pole/single-throw (SPST) dry reed switch has normally open contacts and contains two magnetically actuated reeds.
Double ended, its contacts are layer-gold sputtered ruthenium.
Under load conditions, its minimum life expectancy is 10 million operations, and it has a failure rate of 0.01ppm.
The release time for its end-of-life criteria is more than 0.7ms and minimum end-of-life contact resistance is 2ohm after 4ms.
The RI-80 has a maximum switch power rating of 5W and can handle up to 200V switched DC and 140V switched AC RMS.
Minimum breakdown voltage is 230V.
The maximum switched DC current rating is 350mA and the value for AC current is 250mA RMS.
The operating ambient and storage temperature range is -55 to +125C, but temperature excursions of up to +150C may be permissible.
The relay can be mounted in any position and is tested for shock in accordance with IEC68-2-27.
