SMT spring contacts ease board assembly

A RIA Connect product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Apr 10, 2008

Board-mounting contacts enable designers to reduce the requirement for hand soldering in final assembly operations.

RIA Connect describes its ASM01Y spring contact as a revolution in the world of connections.

Measuring just 3.5 x 1.7 x 5.1mm, the board-mounting contacts enable designers to reduce the requirement for hand soldering in final assembly operations.

The contacts allow the connection of pinned components and single wires (from 0.75 to 1.5mm2 cross-section) or stranded wires with ferrules.

The device is SMT compatible and suitable for mounting using fully automated assembly lines.

Devices are supplied on tape on reel and can be reflow soldered for 90s at 290C thanks to the absence of plastic parts.

Connections made using the ASM01Y SMT solderable spring contact are highly resistant to the effects of vibration, as required for example in automotive electronics.
