Rigel Medical has introduced a compact handheld ventilator tester in the form of the new Rigel 355.

The lightweight instrument is used for the quick and easy functional testing of both adult and paediatric ventilators by biomedical and service engineers, hospital service and maintenance teams and ambulance services, as well as manufacturers of ventilation equipment.

Highly accurate and portable with battery or mains powered operation, the new tester measures the technical performance characteristics of a wide range of ventilator functions.

These include respiratory frequency, maximum and minimum pressures, average flow measurements and tidal volume.

Easy to operate and with a large digital display of test results and readings, the Rigel 355 is equipped with a number of high performance technical features.

These include the precise measurement of flow, using Fleisch pneumo-tacographs, and high accuracy measurement of pressure and oxygen content.

The Rigel 355 is equipped with a dynamic internal memory for the storage of real time test results, data and curves for subsequent downloading to a PC or print out.

When used with the optional Respi software program, statistical records and analysis of ventilator performance data can undertaken.

The Rigel 355 is supported by a range of accessories including a portable printer for direct connection to the test instrument.
