It is available with 433.92, 869.85 and 914.5MHz operating frequencies, making it ideal for applications in either Europe or the USA.

Radiometrix has designed the SPM as an OEM product that can be easily incorporated into both new and existing designs.

It uses point-to-point addressable data packets with error checking, packet acknowledgements and retransmissions to achieve a reliable and invisible wireless datalink.

Built for ease of use and rapid installation, the SPM's serial interface ensures direct connection to microprocessors and microcontrollers while remote configuration enables easy post installation modem setup.

The applications for the SPM are many and varied.

They include communications to and from PDAs, organisers and laptops, handheld/portable terminals, EPOS equipment, barcode scanners, belt clip printers, remote data acquisition systems, audience response systems, in-building environmental monitoring and control, high-end security and fire alarms, restaurant ordering systems and vehicle data up/download systems.

This highly flexible product boasts a number of advanced features.

For example, it is addressable point-to-point and its DTE speed is high at 600-115,200bit/s (air data speed is 600-14,400bit/s).

The SPM's operating range is up to 200m outdoor and 50m indoors.

Other features include: flow control (RTS/CTS, none); built-in command line configuration and RF link diagnostics; remote over-air unit configuration; low operating current and an auto standby mode.

The unit operates at 5V DC, has an operating current (transmitting/receiving) average of 40mA (data streaming) and standby/power-down at 15mA/400uA.

The operating temperature range is from -10 to +55C.

Radiometrix's SPM conforms to EN300-220-3 and EN301-489-3, and it is sized at a highly compact 23 x 39 x 4mm, making it easy to incorporate into the confined spaces commonly found in modern electronic OEM products.
