Transceiver upgrade boosts range and
datarate
The BiM2 half-duplex radio transceiver offers greatly improved receiver interference rejection together with higher datarates and greater transmit power.
The BiM2 half-duplex radio transceiver is an enhanced version of the established Radiometrix design, offering greatly improved receiver interference rejection together with higher datarates and greater transmit power Moreover, with its low profile of 4mm and small footprint (23 x 33mm), together with the low power requirement, the BiM2 is ideal for PCB installation

Low-power transmitter comes in a compact package
Miniature PCB mounting UHF radio transmitter allows designers to create a simple datalink capable of supporting rates of up to 40Kbit/s at distances up to 300m across open ground.
Single board provides wireless RS232 interface
Two units can be used as a serial RS232 cable replacement in many 9600baud half-duplex applications.
A major feature of Radiometrix's BiM2 module is the SAW-controlled 10mW FM transmitter plus front-end SAW filter and full screening for EMC.
The BiM2's transmit section comprises a SAW-stabilised and FM modulated 433.92MHz (European licence-exempt frequency) oscillator feeding a 10mW power amplifier stage.
Many radio transceiver modules on the market use crystal technology but SAW provides a number of significant advantages.
These include: lower cost; better datarate; low power consumption; and faster power-up time.
The SAW-controlled BiM2 is the perfect choice for a wide range of bidirectional wireless connectivity applications in battery-powered and handheld equipment at ranges of up to 200m.
These include PDAs, organisers, laptops, handheld terminals, EPOS equipment, barcode scanners, belt-clip printers, data loggers, audience response systems, environmental monitoring and control in 'smart' buildings, high-end security and fire alarm systems, restaurant ordering systems and vehicle data download/upload systems.
Many of these are rapidly expanding markets and represent a major opportunity for OEMs manufacturing such equipment.
The Radiometrix BiM2 has a usable range to 200m external and 50m in a building; provides datarates up to 160Kbit/s, features a double-conversion FM superhet receiver and operates from a 3 or 5V supply, consuming less than 20mA.
The operating temperature range is from -10 to + 55C, extendible at reduced specification.
The module's high raw datarate and fast state change times support a high data throughput of up to 3Kbyte/s in streaming applications.
Also possible is short time utilisation in multimode scanning network applications.
The Radiometrix BiM2 is verified to comply with both Radio standard ETSI EN300 220-3 and EMC standard ETSI EN301 489-3 by a UKAS accredited test laboratory.
BiM2 is CE certified by an independent notified body. Request a free brochure from Radiometrix ...
