Narrowband ISM modules add 458MHz option

Higher power radio modules increase reliable communications range to as much as 1km.

Radiometrix has introduced a new addition to its widely applicable low-cost LMT2/LMR2 transmitter/receiver series.

Making use of the 458.525-459.1MHz UK ISM frequency band (instead of the 433.875-434.650MHz EU band used in the previous versions), these higher power radio modules manage to increase the distance over which they can communicate to as much as 1km.

This allows engineers to enhance systems that previously had insufficient range (or insufficient link margin).

The radio solution provides a power-efficient (current consumption of just 20mA for the receiver, and 35mA at 10W output or 95mA at 100W output for the transmitter), reliable 5Kbit/s, 32-channel narrowband datalink.

It has a receiver sensitivity of -118dBm and a transmit power of +20dBm (100mW).

The modules making up the transmitter/receiver pair conform fully to both the EN300 220-3 and EN301 489-3 standards.

As well as operating in the 458MHz UK band, they can also be used in the 448MHz Czech band (as well as other bands).

Common applications for the LMT2/LMR2 solution include surveillance systems, handheld terminals, environmental monitoring equipment, barcode scanners, data loggers, industrial telemetry/telecommand, high-end security/fire alarms and heavy vehicle/machinery controls.
