AdvancedTCA on the shelf
Rittal has introduced the first of a range of 13U AdvancedTCA (ATCA) shelves designed to comply with the PICMG 3.0 specification and aimed at next generation telecommunications systems.
Rittal has introduced the first of a range of 13U AdvancedTCA (ATCA) shelves designed to comply with the PICMG 3.0 specification and aimed at next generation telecommunications systems.
The unit's unique features include stainless-steel exterior, and a one-piece card guide platform that also provides EMI shielding.
This 19in rack-mount unit includes the Rittal/Kaparel full mesh 14-slot backplane and distribution board.
The shelf is available in versions to support either the Intel Colorado Springs shelf management controller (ShMC), or the Force or Pigeon Point ShMC.
Both versions feature redundant cooling using four of the patented Rittal RiCool blowers and will support two or four power entry modules and two ShMCs for complete redundancy.
The shelf will accommodate 14 slots of 8U x 6HP x 280mm plug-in boards and 14 slots of 8U x 6HP x 70mm rear transition modules (RTMs).
The Rittal/Kaparel AdvancedTCA shelf, available in full mesh, dual-star and dual-dual star architectures, is the production version that follows the developer chassis introduced in January, which provides all-round access for developers of next generation telecommunications systems in a bench-top format.
