A range of rack-mounted or desktop VME systems can be built to individual customer requirements.

Rittal Electronic Systems can produce a range of rack mounted or desktop VME systems for applications, built to individual customer requirements.

By combining a housing with a backplane, power supply, guide rails and wiring, a ready to use system can be supplied to suit most applications.

The housing may be based on either a subrack or instrument case, depending on whether the application is 19in rack mounted or desktop, both of which may be kitted out with rear I/O.

The choice of backplanes includes standard VME, J1, J2 or J1+J2 monolithic, VME64X with or without P0 connections and VXI for instrumentation.

Rittal is also able to offer a design service for special or customised backplanes which may be included as part of the overall system.

Backplanes may be fitted horizontally where a low slot count is required using 6U plug-in boards, which in turn can be mounted as a tower enclosure in the desktop case.

For power to run the system, Rittal can provide PSUs in various formats including open frame, plug-in, hot swap and ATX.

Systems are completed by providing all necessary wiring, and both wiring and safety tests are conducted before despatch.

Rittal has supplied VME systems for various applications including signalling (rail), video monitoring and public displays, medical electronics and research markets.
