Horizontal mounting kits save subrack space

A Rittal product story

The latest additions to the Ripac Vario subrack range are a pair of kits for mounting double- and treble-height Euroboard PCBs horizontally in both 3 and 4U high subracks.

Rittal Electronic Systems has extended its Ripac Vario subrack range with the introduction of kits for mounting double- and treble-height Euroboard PCBs horizontally in both 3 and 4U high subracks.

For use in systems where a minimal number of 6 or 9U boards are required, the horizontal mounting kits save height (and thus rack space/real estate) and provide a rugged housing for up to five plug-in-boards (slots) in 3U and seven in the 4U configuration.

Additional accessories allow the mounting kits to be configured as either standard or upgradeable to EMC.

As the PCB's horizontal orientation does not allow for cooling by natural convection, Rittal is also able to supply solid covers to fit the subracks.

These covers (which may be part of an EMC solution) enable forced air to be channelled across the PCBs and from front to rear.

The subracks and horizontal mounting kits can be supplied either flatpacked or ready assembled, complete with VME or CompactPCI backplanes, PCB guide rails, fans and front panels as required.
