Rittal has added modular power backplanes to its CompactPCI range.

Rittal has added modular power backplanes to its CompactPCI range.

The new backplanes, which enable CompactPCI power supplies to share power and to be hot-swapped, can accommodate up to 10 power supplies in either 3 or 6U format.

AC or DC power input is via a six-pole Mate-N-Lok connector, and the output power is distributed to modular CompactPCI backplanes via a varying number (depending on the power rating) of ATX-style connectors on the rear connected through standard cable harnesses.

Apart from distributing +3.3, +5, +/- 12V and earth, these also handle the control signals between the two backplanes.

In addition to PICMG2.11 R1.0 compliant power supplies with its P47 connector, Rittal can provide interface backplanes for earlier CompactPCI power with either DIN41612 M-type connectors or P38 Positronics.

The power handling ability of the range stretches from 250W for a single 3U power supply version, up to 1500W in both 3 and 6U formats.

Rittal Powerplanes meet both PICMG 2.0R3.0 CompactPCI specification and PICMG 2.11 R1.0 power interface specification.
