Rittal has extended its range of Slim-Box products that reflect the trend for smaller and more efficient systems.

Rittal has extended its range of Slim-Box products that reflect the trend for smaller and more efficient systems The high-density electronic packaging solutions feature two slots per 1U of height

The new models include VME as well as increased range of CompactPCI (cPCI) systems and "neutral" versions for custom backplanes, which can include switched fabric.

All 32 models in the horizontal mount range are equipped for 6U front plug-in boards and include fans for left to right side cooling.

The options, available as standard configurations, include provision for rear I/O transitions, plug-in hot swap or ATX power supplies, and "neutral" systems without a backplane for greater customer choice.

The systems that can be configured as 19in rack mounting units or, without mounting flanges, as desk or benchtop systems are built from steel, with mounting flanges that may be fitted either at the front or up to 100mm towards the rear if preferred.

Inside, each 1U of height is equipped with four codable guide rails to create two standard (4HP) slots, with additional models also having 80mm rear I/O (cPCI) or 160mm rear I/O (VME).

Monolithic backplanes, whether VME or cPCI, provide more options for customer choice by including the connection for hot-swappable, pluggable power supplies, or power connections for ATX.

The "neutral" system can be supplied with any suitable backplane including VME64x and switched fabrics such as PICMG 2.16 or 2.17 on request.

For cooling, each of the new systems includes up to 4 fans to provide a uniform airflow distribution.

Additional cooling can be provided for the rear I/O area if required.

Complementing the existing cPCI models, which use hot-swappable power supplies, the new Slim-Boxes include 200W (1 and 2U) or 300W (3 and 4U) ATX power packs.

Storage media (hard drives) may be fitted to all the systems and removable media such as CD-ROM can be mounted on the larger units. Request a free brochure from Rittal ...
