Rittal's high-capacity RiCool II fans provide reliable heat dissipation up to 3.2kW for the entire ATCA shelf, even in the event of a single fan failure.

Rittal's high-capacity RiCool II fans provide reliable heat dissipation up to 3.2kW for the entire ATCA shelf, even in the event of a single fan failure.

To enhance cooling for this developing technology, Rittal has now combined its expertise with liquid cooling to create systems capable of over 4kW each.

Using technology developed for cooling multiple high power servers for an image processing application in conjunction with the Max Planck Institute, Rittal's Liquid Cooling Package not only provides increased heat removal, but also the option to site the heat exchanger remotely from the rack, office or equipment room, thus saving on both noise and heat build-up.

With rising integration densities at all levels and clock frequencies of up to 10GHz, even higher heat losses are to be expected in future.

Innovations in climate control, such as liquid cooling of ATCA boards via CPU cooling or heat pipe concepts, are among Rittal's solutions for the effective cooling of hot spots, ensuring reliable dissipation of up to 70% of the heat loss.
