Counter/timers have universal appeal for
the army
Racal Instruments Group has supplied 100 of its 2202R rubidium universal counter/timers to the British Army.
Racal Instruments Group has supplied 100 of its new rubidium universal counter/timers, the 2202R, as part of the upgrades for the general purpose digital test and diagnostic facility (GPDTDF), known as Diana, and the general purpose thermal imager repair facility (GPTIRF) for the UK Ministry of Defence Diana and GPTIRF support a wide range of British Army battlefield equipment including electronic and optronic systems

Platform promises modular microwave switching
The 1260-67M is a six-position single-slot VXI modular microwave switch platform.
The 2202R includes a high stability rubidium oscillator and frequency distribution system.
This enables it to replace two instruments commonly found in military test systems, namely: universal counter/timer instrumentation; and frequency standard and distribution instrumentation.
The 2202R includes two 100MHz channels and an optional 1.3GHz channel.
The counter implements more than ten counting and timing functions, including frequency, time interval, rise/fall time, and phase.
An extensive array of arming and triggering modes allow the unit to cover a broad range of applications.
This flexibility is very important in the Diana application, as numerous existing test programs need to run on the new counter.
Kevin Leduc, Racal's Strategic Sales Manager and President of the VXI Consortium, commenting on the delivery of the 2202R said: "Racal Instruments Group has significantly expanded its penetration of the military test market for frequency standards".
"Earlier this year, we provided the frequency and timing standard for RTCASS, and now we are doing the same for Diana".
"We now provide the frequency standard for key ATE systems for both the US Navy and the British Army".
