Platform promises modular microwave switching

The 1260-67M is a six-position single-slot VXI modular microwave switch platform.

The 1260-67M is a six-position single-slot VXI modular microwave switch platform from Racal Instruments.

Users may specify up to 12 combinations of various 18 and/or 26GHz switches, thereby receiving up to three times the density of competing 26GHz VXI switch modules.

The 1260-67M platform provides a choice of eight switch types, including 18 and 26GHz 1x2, multithrow, and transfer switches; this modular approach means that there is no need to purchase separate C-size cards for each type of microwave switch needed in a system.

The inherent modularity of the platform addresses sparing as well as upgradeability.

Should relay replacement be necessary, relays can be removed and replaced in less than 5min without removing the module from the VXI system.

This approach not only facilitates the replacement of failed relays, but also enhances the field upgrade capability of this switch card.

Maximising system uptime, facilitating field upgrades and sparing, and reducing MTTR are inherent significant features of this high-performance switch platform.

The single slot 1260-67M is a welcome addition to Racal Instruments recently introduced 1260-64M, two-slot microwave switch platform.

The 1260-64M provides a choice of over 35 microwave switches, including switches that are self-terminating and handle frequencies up to 40GHz.

Both modules are ideal for switching signals used in modern communication and surveillance system, including cellular, PCS, satellite and military test.
