Racal Instruments Group has developed a series of new, user-friendly software tools called newWaveX, designed specifically to meet the needs of design and test engineers There are three newWaveX products: a downloadable 30-day evaluation version of the software; newWaveX Lite, a version for signal design and simulation and XML export of signal definitions; and the full version of newWaveX, for comprehensive test program development and compliance verification and includes import/export of XML definitions

newWaveX is also available as a customised product to allow users to allocate and control instrumentation.
newWaveX encapsulates IEEE1641 (signal and test definition), a new standard which expresses tests in terms of signals applied to the UUT (unit under test).
newWaveX enables test development through easy to use "drag-and-drop" graphical development environment and real-time test simulation through DirectX technology.
It enables test implementation by providing automatic test resource allocation and direct driving of synthetic instruments and digital memory devices as well as standard control of any driver-based instruments.
newWaveX offers standardised simulation of many types of test signal, including various radio modulation schemes, filtering, handling event mechanisms, signal condition monitoring, signal measurement and the ability to build up more complex schemes.
Automatic code generation is provided, in both NET VB and XML, both conforming to the IEEE1641 standard and currently undergoing incorporation into the IEEE ATML standard.
Additionally, newWaveX's capabilities can be readily embedded into application developers' own software environments through ActiveX technology.
This ensures test programs, produced in these environments, comply with the new IEEE1641 standard.
The IEEE1641 standard, published in March 2005, was approved by the IEEE Standards Association of which Racal Instruments' parent, EADS Test and Services is a member through participation of IEEE SCC20 committee.
Comprehensive training packages relating to the standard and newWaveX are available.
