Stylish enclosure for high technology starter

Rockwell Automation announces the Allen-Bradley 198E-AY, an IP 66 rated enclosure for MCS (Modular Control System) starters rated up to 18.5 kW.

At only 90mm wide, 132 mm deep and 187mm high, these new enclosures are exceptionally small for their rating.

There is plenty of space for wiring within the new enclosure and this has been made possible by combining the advanced MCS-C contactor with the innovative MCS-EA electronic motor protection relay.

This dissipates 40 times less heat than a conventional thermal overload resulting in a technology leading enclosed starter combination to cover the range from 4 to 18.5 kW at 415 Volts.

Enclosures can be supplied plain, or with a choice of pushbutton arrangements.

These include blue reset button only, start and stop pushbuttons, or a start button and raised stop button.

There is also the option of an indicating lamp.

The MCS 100-C series contactors are rated from 9 to 37 Amps for motor duty.

Six different frame sizes and accessories include side mounted start auxiliary contact (required for pushbutton options) and neutral terminal.

Motor protection is provided by the 193-EA electronic overload relay.

These self-powered devices have a wide range setting and combine overload with phase loss protection.

These characteristics and the inherent modularity provided by the MCS range, mean the dimensions of the enclosure can be kept to a minimum.

The enclosures are robust and durable.

They are manufactured to ISO 14001, are ecologically harmless and fully recyclable.

Installation is quick and easy with metric knockouts top and bottom, and a drilling template is provided in the base.

The enclosures are rated to IP 66, providing a high degree of resistance to the ingress of dust, water sprays and aggressive substances.

The combination of compact dimensions, high degree of protection and stylish design makes the Allen-Bradley 198E-AY suitable for a wide range of applications, particularly those in the packing, pharmaceutical and food and beverage industries.
