Budget KVM switch runs between two PCs
The two-port Bliss allows two computers to be controlled from a single KVM console, and simultaneously switches between them.
Rose Electronics is well known as a premium supplier of KVM switches - devices allowing a user to access and control more than one computer from just one keyboard, video monitor and mouse.
There is a massive market (hundreds of thousands of units each year) for two-port "personal" KVM switches.
Typical applications are where a new computer is purchased, but an old one is retained as a backup, or one user has both a laptop computer and desktop computer, and wants to work on both from one high quality monitor.
The position of Rose Electronics in this market has been at the very top, with its "best of breed" product Mini-Vista.
The continuing success of Mini-Vista has produced many customer requests for a lower priced switch to compete for the budget end of this lucrative market.
Now Rose has released its first "budget" switch - the two-port Bliss.
Bliss allows two computers to be controlled from a single KVM console, and simultaneously switches between them.
Installation and operation are easy and straightforward - Bliss comes as a complete (retail blister packed) package, with all cables necessary to connect to most PCs actually built in.
Bliss is a miniaturised switch and is an "in cable" design, so takes up absolutely no desk space - a real advantage for cluttered and cramped environments.
According to Rose's European Sales and Marketing Director, Paul Naish, Bliss is expected to be extremely popular, but he stresses that it is intended to compete with very low cost switches from other manufacturers, and does not see Bliss as competition for Rose's Mini Vista.
Naish says: "The increase in multi-PC households and SOHO desks, and the growing popularity of high-specification flat screens is driving growth in the personal KVM market".
"Rose is very successful at the very top of that market, and Bliss fills a gap in the budget conscious end".
"We see Bliss as a way for our channel partners to maximise on the popularity of the Rose brand, and to be able to sell budget switches Rose is behind them so that there are no support issues".
"Its part of an evolving policy where Rose will become more and more of a one stop shop for our channel partners in all areas of the KVM market".
Bliss is designed for simple plug-and-play installation, and is available for both PS/2 and USB interfaced computers.
