Dual-channel MOSFET switches shrink USB power
New dual-channel MOSFET switches from Rohm Electronics combine SOP8 packaging with very low on resistances and are designed to save space and reduce component count in USB applications.
New dual-channel mosfet switches from Rohm Electronics combine miniature SOP8 packaging with very low on resistances and are specifically designed to save space and reduce component count in USB applications.
Ideally suited to USB power control in hubs, PCs, printers and other peripherals, the new BD651xF series comprises four high-side switching ICs with typical RDS(ON) ratings of just 100mohm.
Devices are offered with typical current limit threshold ratings of either 2.0 or 1.1A, with each current rating featuring a choice of H or L active control logic.
The new switch ICs are highly integrated devices that combine the dual DMOS mosfets with built-in error detection circuits and high levels of protection to prevent unstable output operation.
Protection functionality includes undervoltage lockout and current limiting as well as thermal shutdown.
An additional soft start circuit ensures that the device powers up in a controlled manner.
All the new ICs are compatible with a power supply of between 3.0 and 5.5V and will operate at temperatures between -25 and +85C.
Maximum power dissipation is rated at 450mW at 25C.
