White LED driver IC lights up cellphones
Rohm has launched a device that will simplify the design of mobile phones requiring full colour backlights by delivering the increased voltages and driving functionality demanded by white LEDs.
A built-in transformer helps to significantly reduce component count and board space, while insulation on both primary and secondary windings ensures safe operation and device protection.
Rohm's BP5710 is ideally suited to low-voltage systems and power conversion in applications that range from industrial systems to domestic appliances.
The module has an ESD endurance rating of 2kV in accordance with IEC61000-4-2 and offers a maximum withstand voltage between transformer primary and secondary windings of 1800V RMS for 2s.
Supplied in a compact package measuring just 36 x 24mm, the BP5710 AC/DC convertor has a typical power conversion efficiency of 77%.
Typical line and load regulation are both rated at 0.15V, while isolation resistance between transformer coils is 100Mohm.
