A compact low-voltage integrated speaker amplifier IC can contribute to simplified design and reduced power consumption in mobile phones, PDAs and other handheld devices.

A compact low-voltage integrated speaker amplifier IC can contribute to simplified design and reduced power consumption in mobile phones, PDAs and other handheld devices.

Rohm's new BH7826FVM driver IC has fully differential inputs and is capable of driving any audio output including 8 and 12ohm dynamic speakers.

The built-in BTL mono audio power amplifier allows a high power output of up to 500mW to be achieved.

Featuring high levels of integration, the BH7826FVM incorporates an active/shutdown mode, an inbuilt "anti-pop" circuit, a thermal shutdown capability, and a soft mute circuit.

Maximum power dissipation is rated at 470mW, and maximum distortion is just 1%.

Rohm's new amplifier is supplied in a miniature MSOP8 package with dimensions of 2.9 x 2.8 x 0.9mm.

The device can accommodate a wide supply voltage between 2.6 and 5.5V, and is rated for operating temperatures from -30 to +85C.
