New from Rowland Automation is a durable low-profile flexible flat cable that can be used in many different applications.

Maximising on the strengths of the company Rowland Automation have extended their product portfolio of custom designed keyboards and HMI solutions to include Interflex FFC (flexible flat cable) Interflex FFC is extremely durable and low profile (0.27mm) and can be used in many different applications

One example of this is in the automotive industry where it is used to provide a permanent power link to the steering wheel air bag, using the clock coil spring design.

The ultralow profile and durability of Interflex FFC provides a perfectly reliable design solution that could be adopted anywhere.

Interflex FFC can be supplied as bulk reeled cable or, cut to a specific length with male or female crimped IDC connectors fitted at each end.

The base substrate is normally polyester with copper conductors at 2.54 or 1.27mm pitch.

Most product comes with a UL flame resistant approval and an insulation rating of 300V.

Even greater benefits can be realised when Interflex FFC is produced in a multidirectional format by slitting and forming any number of ways at any given length, thus creating an extremely low profile flat wiring harness from one single point to other multiple points.

To further enhance this benefit, Interflex FFC can be supplied as a bonded multilayer product.

Further options are available which include a laminated pressure sensitive adhesive backing and also ESD, or EMC laminated (or printed) shielding.
