Omnidirectional bonus for miniature GPS antenna
Antenna specialist Sarantel has announced the PowerHelix GPS-P, a miniature GPS antenna which is omnidirectional and therefore tolerant of the orientation of the GPS receiver.
Richardson is no stranger to GPS, having previously spent three years with Australian-based Sigtec Navigation, a vendor of GPS technology and products.
Prior to that he was with GEC Plessey Semiconductors (now Zarlink Semiconductor), where he was responsible for marketing of GPS chipsets.
He commented: "GPS is growing rapidly and is widely used in automotive, logistics and tracking applications as well as in navigation.
However, the key to increasing its capability - particularly in the cellphone market - is the antenna.
I believe that the advantages of Sarantel's range of antennas will overcome some of the shortcomings of other designs.
I am very excited at the prospect of promoting these antennas around the world".
