Tee2Green Technologies of Victoria, Australia has used a Sarantel GeoHelix GPS antenna in its new Sureshotgps range finder for golfers.
Tee2Green chose the Sarantel antenna due to its small sise, ability to detect low elevation satellites and exceptional performance when held close to the human body - all essential requirements.
The Sureshotgps is a small, handheld range finder that uses GPS to determine distances around the golf course.
Packed with features like the ability to keep scores, recommend personalised club selection, store up to 10 courses, and download game statistics to a PC, the Sureshotgps is a great tool to help golfers get around the golf course quickly and accurately.
Golf range finders use GPS to determine the golfer's precise location on the golf course.
By computing the distance from that location to a pre-surveyed point on the course, such as the centre of the green, the Sureshotgps can display the distance and suggest an appropriate club.
Distances to hazards, boundaries, and other locations on the course can be displayed also.
Because a few meters can make a big difference in club selection, it's important that the GPS receiver get the best signal level out of the available satellites.
It was also important that the device be small, unobtrusive, and easy to use.
That's why Sarantel's GeoHelix antenna was essential to Tee2Green's development.
"We needed a small compact GPS antenna and Sarantel's Geohelix fitted perfectly with our design", commented Peter Sim, CEO of Tee2Green.
"After an extensive technical evaluation, we determined Sarantel is the leader in this area".
"We were also very impressed with Sarantel's sophisticated production facilities".
"The performance of the GeoHelix antenna in Sureshotgps has been excellent and has exceeded our expectations".
The GeoHelix GPS antenna has two features that are key in enhancing the performance of the Sureshotgps.
First, the GeoHelix antenna is omnidirectional with broad beamwidth, which gives the antenna a wide view of the sky so satellites low on the horizon can be seen by the receiver.
Secondly, the GeoHelix antenna is immune to detuning that occurs with conventional GPS antennas when the user's hand grasps the device to which the antenna is mounted.
This means that the GeoHelix antenna provides optimum performance in all modes of use.
David Wither, CEO at Sarantel said: "We're very pleased to have supported Tee2Green on this excellent product".
"Recreation is a rapidly growing segment of the GPS market and this demanding handheld application clearly demonstrates the value of Sarantel's technology".
Sureshotgps is available now for AU $585 (US $399) from www.sureshotgps.com.
