Simple software set-up allows WIZ100SR users to rapidly create a 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet interface with a maximum serial rate of 230Kbit/s.

The WIZ100SR is a plug and play, reliable gateway module that converts the RS- 232 protocol into TCP/IP protocol It enables remote checking, managing and control of devices via Ethernet and TCP/IP by connecting existing RS-232 equipment at up to 230Kbit/s to a network

It is a protocol convertor that automatically converts and transmits data sent by serial equipment to TCP/IP data and converts the received TCP/IP data into serial data for the equipment.

Simple software setup allows users to rapidly create a 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet interface with a maximum serial rate of 230Kbit/s.

The WIZ100SR is a compact 50.8 x 30.48mm board with 2.54mm-spaced pins that allow any device with serial inputs and outputs to be Ethernet/Internet-enabled.

It offers TCP, UDP, IP, ARP, ICMP, IGMP, Ethernet MAC, PPPoE protocols on a 10/100 Base-T auto-detecting Ethernet network.

The WIZ100SR ensures excellent stability and reliability since it uses the hardwired TCP/IP stack IC W5100 from Korea's specialist TCP/IP IC house WIZnet.

WIZ100SR is based on WIZnet's TCP/IP- offload IC W5100 with a built-in Ethernet driver stage.

Three different modes of operation are supported: TCP server, TCP client and UDP.

TCP guarantees data delivery, but UDP doesn't require acknowledgement, allowing faster communication.

Once the TCP client and server have established a connection data can be transparently transmitted bi-directionally.

The WIZ100SR's IP Address can be manually assigned or the IP, subnet and gateway address can be acquired from the DHCP server automatically.

Serial commands can be hardware or software-triggered.

Configuration can be done on-site if need be, even without a PC, using a simple serial device such as a keypad.

The system requires 3.3V at 150mA, but the I/O lines are 5V-compliant for compatability with older equipment.

An evaluation/set-up kit WIZ100SR-EVB provides DB-9 and RJ-45 connectors for quick hook- up, a configuration and manual CD, a 5V 500mA Power Adapter and Serial and UTP cables.
