The CM4 3U is a CompactPCI single board computer for new and legacy commercial and government COTS applications operating in harsh environments.

Available from SBS Technologies, the CM4, with its rugged, ultra-compact, single-slot, all-in-one concept is designed to maintain reliability under severe conditions including high shock, vibration and extreme temperatures.

Based on PowerPC architecture, CM4 offers flexible processor and RAM configurations and an array of on-board peripherals including 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet, timers and interfaces.

Special features include four serial channels with RS232 and RS422/485 interfacing, two DMA controllers, four timers, 32Kbyte of nonvolatile SRAM, real-time clock, temperature sensor and I2O intelligent I/O support.

Rugged and military needs are addressed with optional conduction cooling, extended temperature range of up to -40 to +85C, stiffener bars and wedge locks that increase shock and vibration immunity.

Conformal coating is available for enhanced protection against dust and other contaminants.

"With master/slave functionality, an on-board PMC site and optional conduction cooling, the CM4 fills a unique space in the 3U CompactPCI PowerPC-based product sector", stated Clarence Peckham, President of the SBS Technologies Commercial and Government Group.

"CM4 opens an upgrade path to higher performance and functionality for new COTS designs and legacy systems".
