CompactPCI SBC takes the rough with the smooth
The CM4 3U is a CompactPCI single board computer for new and legacy commercial and government COTS applications operating in harsh environments.
Its minimal power requirements eliminate the need for expensive power supplies, making it a cost-efficient embedded PC platform for applications, including process and control automation, data acquisition and processing, machine control, test systems, public transportation, digital printers, information systems, and mobile devices.
"SBS is an established expert in building embedded PC solutions, having successfully deployed our PCcompact, CompactPCI, and VMEbus products in a wide range of industrial applications", said Clarence Peckham, President of SBS Technologies' Commercial and Government Groups.
"EC6 has been developed to meet our customers' evolving needs for a versatile, cost-efficient, compact single board computer that combines an enhanced feature set, minimal power requirements, and fanless operation", continued Peckham.
To maximise versatility, EC6 offers flexible DRAM configurations up to 512Mbyte, and an extensive array of peripherals.
In addition to dual 10/100 Fast Ethernet interfaces, EC6 has a CANbus interface for low-cost I/O, two USB ports, LPT1, and four serial I/O (RS232/422/485) interfaces with FIFOs.
The board has an interface for a hard drive or a FlashDrive.
Other peripherals include a CompactFlash slot, onboard VGA interface and LCD interface.
A PC/104+ interface enables custom extensions such as Interbus-S, Profibus and Device-Net.
Several supply voltage options are available with the onboard power supply: 5 or 10-30V DC, or on request -48V DC (required by some telecommunications applications).
In both standard (0 to +50C) and optional extended temperature (-40 to +70C) versions, the EC6 uses passive cooling for fanless operation.
Operating system support is available for Windows NT/2000/XP, VxWorks, QNX, and MS-DOS.
The EC6 is available now.
OEM volume pricing starts at US $390.
