Olympus 1000 is a 6U CompactPCI system/non-system-slot 750CXe processor and GT-64260 dual PCI controller featuring the IBM PowerPC bridge.

Olympus 1000 is a 6U CompactPCI system/non-system-slot 750CXe processor and GT-64260 dual PCI controller featuring the IBM PowerPC bridge.

The Olympus 1000 functions as an RSS Universal CPU (RU-CPU) and can operate in active, isolated and peripheral modes, making it ideal for advanced routing and switching applications.

Olympus 1000 also supports Wind River Systems' recently released Tornado 2.2/VxWorks 5.5 development platform.

"This is an extremely versatile board, designed to maximise performance and offer multiple configuration options for unique customer applications", stated Dan Moore, president of the SBS communications and enterprise group.

"Olympus 1000 can operate within a high availability (HA) system environment, such as the SBS SE2.16, performing configuration and arbitration technologies, cascade operations and servicing interrupts.

As a non-HA system controller, it supports a standard eight-slot CompactPCI backplane at 33MHz".

"The Olympus 1000 controller, with a board support package (BSP) by SBS for the VxWorks 5.5 real-time operating system, is a great example of the value chain supported by the WindLink Partner Programme.

Tornado 2.2 provides our most dependable development platform to date", stated Caroline Yao, director of partner solutions at Wind River.

"The unique CompactPCI support offered by SBS provides a reliable and flexible design platform to our joint customers".

Unique to the Olympus 1000, the GT-64260 bridge provides two interfaces: PCI 0 is a 64bit 66MHz hot-swap-compliant CompactPCI bus; PCI 1 can function at 33 or 66MHz and 32 or 64bit wide.

Olympus 1000 also includes a secondary 32bit PCIbus, which is isolated from the primary PCIbus by a 21154 PCI-to-PCI bridge.

This allows the board to support more PCI devices downstream on the secondary side and allows the mixing of legacy boards with newer, faster PMCs without sacrificing performance.

The Olympus 1000 is a PICMG 2.16-compliant node board with two 10/100BaseT Ethernets.

An additional 10/100BaseT Ethernet is available on the front panel RJ-45.

An optional rear transition module provides access to two serial ports, an IDE hard drive, hard drive activity LED and optionally the PICMG 2.16 Ethernet ports.

Olympus 1000 is currently available and has a list price of $4395.
