Gigabit Ethernet boards offer
copper/fibre options
SBS Technologies has released two versions of the CP6-GIGSW8 family of eight-port, non-blocking Layer-2, unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switches.
SBS Technologies has released two versions of the CP6-GIGSW8 family of eight-port, non-blocking Layer-2, unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switches Designed for easy interface customisation, the switch boards support up to two four-port physical interface modules making interface configuration changes in the field fast and simple - just plug in a copper or a fibre physical interface module

The CM4 3U is a CompactPCI single board computer for new and legacy commercial and government COTS applications operating in harsh environments.
Media options include eight copper ports, eight optic-optic ports, or four copper and four optic-optic ports.
Each optic-optic interface module has one pluggable transceiver to allow the interface to be modified for a custom wavelength.
"These switches are a system designer's dream.
Copper and fibre can be used together on a single switch board to provide the right solution for the each application", said Bill Molyneux, Vice President of SBS' General Purpose I/O Products.
"Devices connected to a switch can run at different Ethernet speeds without lower speed devices impacting the performance of higher speed devices".
CP6-GIGSW8-C1 is designed with a "keep it simple to use" philosophy that gives the user connect-and-go functionality.
It does not require host CPU drivers, and because it connects only to the power and PCI reset signals, it is completely operating system independent and fully hot swappable.
An onboard microprocessor configures and controls the switch registers.
To change the interface configuration on the fly, just extract the board from the running system, change the physical interface module, plug in the board and continue running.
In the case of optic-optic interfaces, even the wavelength can be changed without disrupting the system.
CP6-GIGSW8-C1 is compatible with all 6U CompactPCI buses.
Designed for use within custom application development platforms, CP6-GIGSW8-P1 allows complete access to its configuration and control registers and allows end-users to implement their own protocols as well as develop custom Layer-2 through Layer-7 protocols.
The switching silicon provides Layer-2, Layer-3 line rate switching and Layer-4 through Layer-7 filtering and classification.
CP6-GIGSW8-P1 has a 32bit, 33/66 MHz PCI interface.
A VxWorks utility is available to facilitate porting.
