SBS Technologies has released the newest members of its WANic 1000 line - the high-performance WANic 1001-DEM DS3/E3 ATM network monitoring adapter The WANic 1001-DEM adapter can easily monitor a full duplex DS3/E3 ATM wide area network (WAN)

The WANic 1001-DEM effortlessly connects to a WAN using a standard DS3/E3 monitor tap and a DB15 cable, both of which are included in the WANic 1001-DEM kit.

"The WANic 1001-DEM is designed to perform such essential DS3 network monitoring requirements as network security, line rate monitoring and network testing in a cost-effective manner", said Rubin Dhillon, General Manager of the SBS Technologies Communications Design Center in Massachusetts.

"This DS3/E3 ATM WAN adapter brings a high degree of flexibility and reliability to a network manager's network maintenance responsibilities".

This PCI-X-based adapter comes with a nonintrusive T1/E1 tap system that occupies only one slot.

The WANic 1001-DEM contains a bypass circuit that lets network managers easily monitor DS3/E3 ATM network connections as a passive device.

With its auto discovery and indexing functions, the WANic 1001-DEM adapter can automatically detect new far-end group identifiers and provision a corresponding local VPI/VCI identifier prior to forwarding the ATM cells to the ATM segmentation and reassembly (SAR) device on the WANic 1001-DEM.

This auto discovery function significantly improves the quality of the monitoring information available to a network manager.
