Line reactors reduce voltage drops
EMC specialist Schaffner has broadened its extensive product portfolio with the introduction of a new range of three-phase line reactors for industrial applications.
EMC specialist Schaffner has broadened its extensive product portfolio with the introduction of a new range of three-phase line reactors for industrial applications.
The line reactors reduce load-generated harmonics, improve system power factors, and ensure the short-circuit voltage is within the commonly required 4 or 2% limit.
The introduction of the new range means that Schaffner is now a single source supplier for both EMC filters and line reactors, which are often used together in the same application.
A line reactor is typically used in latest-generation inverter systems, allowing regenerated energy to be fed back into the mains (such as that generated when an elevator is braking, for example).
Designed specifically to meet the demands of industrial and large machine applications, the RWK 212 (4%) and RWK 213 (2%) line reactors are installed on the line side in a motor-drive system, in addition to a line filter.
They also reduce voltage drops which can occur through commutation, help to increase the operational life span of components operating on the line side, and provide better immunity against low-frequency interference phenomena of surrounding equipment.
Further, line reactors are required in many applications to meet today's harmonics standards.
Supplied in a wide range of current ratings, the cost-effective line reactors offer rating increments to optimise performance.
Compact construction ensures that minimum installation space is required and the units are easy and quick to fit.
Current ratings range from 2.1 to 2300A, in popular incremental steps.
Operating voltage is 400V AC, and frequency 50 to 60Hz.
The RWK-series is designed according the standard EN 61558-2-20.
