Multistage filter gives broadband performance
The latest addition to the Schaffner FN2000 series of powerline filters is a low-cost solution to a variety of EMC compliance problems ranging from motor drives to precision instrumentation.
Compact inlet family now runs to 20A
Available now from Schaffner EMC Ltd are the company's first high-current IEC inlet filters.
The package incorporates everything manufacturers need to test and certify their products, in their own laboratories and with minimal effort.
BEST is also useful as a portable solution for on-site system verification.
Test parameters are user-adjustable within wide limits and offer generous test margins, so that BEST is also ideal for product analysis, or for checking compliance with in-house EMC quality standards.
Test parameters for generic standards are pre-programmed and can be simply called up at the touch of a button.
All the latest relevant revisions of IEC 610004x (EN 610004x) are covered.
These are IEC 610004-2 ESD, -4 burst, -5 surge, -8 power frequency magnetics, -9 pulsed magnetics and -11 AC supply dips/drops.
Among the new features of the BEST family, a separate input is now provided to simplify the use of DC test power sources, raising the unit's DC capability to 115V at 16A.
This gives a generous increase over the previous specifications.
Also, when using an AC test source, the BEST will now automatically detect the frequency of the source used, removing the potential for obtaining false readings from an incorrect setup.
Manual operation has been improved with the introduction of new keyed functions, such as a softkey polarity switch that has been added to allow immediate polarity change in burst, surge and ESD testing, eg from +2000V to -2000V.
Two basic versions are available.
BESTplus meets the test specifications of the generic standards and similar product standards.
BESTemc includes the full range of higher specification pulse voltage functions called for in the basic standards.
Both are available now from Schaffner EMC Ltd, together with a full range of accessories. Request a free brochure from Schaffner ...
