Calibrator keeps comms EMC testers fresh
The CPG 1502 from Schaffner is a stand-alone pulse generator for calibration of CISPR 14 disturbance or discontinuous interference (click) analysers.

Multistage filter gives broadband performance
The latest addition to the Schaffner FN2000 series of powerline filters is a low-cost solution to a variety of EMC compliance problems ranging from motor drives to precision instrumentation.

Click analysers measure short bursts of RF noise.
They are used to verify compliance with the CISPR 14 standard which defines a click as an RF pulse which lasts for less than 200ms, separated from the previous or next pulse by more than 200ms.
Calibration of these instruments is defined by CISPR 16 which specifies 22 different test patterns to be recognised by the analyser.
The CPG 1502 is the first stand-alone instrument designed to produce these test patterns.
It simplifies a previously complex calibration procedure.
A simple menu-driven interface allows the user to select the frequency between 150kHz and 30MHz, according to the analyser to be calibrated.
The CPG 1502 produces each of the 22 test patterns in turn.
The whole process can normally be completed in less than an hour, saving days of test time, which would otherwise be lost, when instruments are shipped off site for calibration.
It also makes much more frequent calibration checks possible, for more robust quality assurance.
CPG 1502 calibration is traceable to national standards.
It can be used to calibrate any CISPR 14 analyser, including Schaffnerûs own high performance DIA 1512C, making it a particularly cost-effective option for test facilities with more than one analyser. Request a free brochure from Schaffner ...
