Harmonic filters raise power system efficiency
Load-applied passive harmonic filters represent the ideal solution for three-phase power electronics with six-pulse rectifier front ends.
Using the same technology employed in Schaffner's high-performance IEC-inlet filters, high component values are used, with 0.3mH inductors, dual 2.2nF Y-capacitors and a 100nF X-capacitor.
This provides maximum filter performance in applications where PCB area is at a premium, particularly in switching power supplies.
The new filter is the latest addition to Schaffner's FN406 series, which now covers current ratings from 0.5 to 8.4A.
All devices are rated for 250V operation from DC to 400Hz.
Operating temperature range is -25 to +85C.
Approvals include EN133200 and IEC60939.
Versions are also available specifically for use in medical equipment.
The FN406B series features an ultra-low 2uA maximum leakage current, compared with the low 190uA rating for the standard FN406 series. Request a free brochure from Schaffner ...
