A proven range of EMC filters is now certified to operate in harsh industrial environments up to 50C without derating.

A proven range of EMC filters is now certified to operate in harsh industrial environments up to 50C without derating.

The FN3359 series of filters with current ratings from 150 to 600A has been approved by UL to operate in an ambient temperature of 50C.

The new approval also includes high-voltage models that can operate at up to 600VAC.

The FN3359 range of industrial EMC filters offers a global solution for industrial, motor control and IT power networks.

It is a compact, low-weight, three-phase filter that will operate at voltages worldwide.

Andy Kotas, Marketing Manager of Schaffner comments: "We have put a lot of work into improving our filters so that they work at higher temperatures.

Many of our customers have to run equipment in harsh industrial environments and in the past would have had to overspecify the filter to ensure safe operating conditions and reliability.

Now we have the high temperature approval, the correct filter may be safely used and component costs reduced".

Schaffner expect further filters to be requalified at higher temperatures to meet customer needs in industrial applications such as semiconductor manufacture, process control, machine tool centres etc.
