Three-phase filters cut costs and weight

Three-phase EMC filters claim a new precedent in compact, lightweight mechanical design, operational safety and innovative packaging.

New from Schaffner the FN 3025 and FN 3026 three-phase EMC filters claim a new precedent in compact, lightweight mechanical design, operational safety and innovative packaging These new low-leakage filters make extensive use of plastics in their case material and are not encapsulated, simplifying the manufacturing process and offering a weight saving of up to 50% in comparison to conventional filter designs

To ensure an EMC compliant high frequency contact to ground is maintained a metal base plate is employed.

Modern motor drives require integrated filters and the FN 3025 and FN 3026 are optimised for the convenience of users.

A patented spring mechanism automatically raises the cable-clamping fixture so that connecting wires may be easily inserted and then clamped using an automated overhead torque wrench.

Captive, transparent safety covers are provided as standard and they may be moved into place on a swivel mechanism for protection against accidental contact with live conductors.

Sam Williamson, UK Components Sales Manager at Schaffner comments: "The cost and weight savings of these two new filters will be of great interest to motor drive manufacturers and integrators".

"With their excellent, improved safety features and easy of assembly we are convinced we have a winning product on our hands".

Two mounting options are available to meet varying application needs.

The FN 3025 filters have a conventional screw mounting whereas the FN 3026 are intended for mounting on TS 35 DIN rails.

Both new filters are rated for use between 20 and 50A (at 50C) and for maximum continuous three-phase operating voltages of 520V AC.

All versions offer very low leakage currents of 0.4mA (L-types) or 2.5mA (P-types) at 480/50Hz, and are particularly suited to use with sensitive earth-leakage circuit breakers, stringent fire regulations and where safety of operators or service personnel is critical.

These new filters are approved to UL, SCA and ENEC standards and meet the requirements of the RoHS Directive. Request a free brochure from Schaffner ...
