Circuit breaker adds to inlet functionality

A Schurter product story

By incorporating a circuit breaker instead of a fuse, the EF11 power module can be reset after a fault, has higher current limiting characteristics and provides instant circuit status indication.

By incorporating a circuit breaker instead of a fuse, the EF11 power module can be reset after a fault, has higher current limiting characteristics and provides circuit status indication depending on the switch position.

This new high-current inlet from Schurter combines an IEC/EN60320-1 compliant appliance inlet with a choice of circuit breaker functions, including one- or two-pole thermal overload protection up to 16A (20A), or without bimetal for two-pole on/off switching only (up to 16A).

An optional undervoltage release can detect power loss and protect against unwanted restart.

A remote trip function is also available.

Power entry modules are designed to save panel space, cut parts count and streamline wiring.

The EF11 is pending VDE approvals up to 16A at 250V, and UL and CSA up to 20A at 125 and 250V.

Applications include higher power consuming equipment, like CAD systems, office automation equipment, industrial workstations, basestations, file servers, bar coding equipment and power supplies.
