Fuse carrier switches to surface mounting

A Schurter product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Dec 20, 2005

The FPG series of fuse holders now includes a version for SMD mounting.

Schurter has extended its FPG series of fuse holders to include a version for SMD mounting.

Like the original FPG5 through-hole design, the new FPG7 accepts 5 x 20mm cartridge fuses.

The fuse carrier is available either as screwdriver slot knob or as fingergrip knob.

The fuse block meets overcurrent protection requirement in equipment that must comply with a variety of worldwide safety standards.

The new fuse block is made of RoHS compliant materials that are heat resistant and compatible with reflow solder processes.

It is approved by VDE for 10A and UL/CSA for 16 A at 250V AC.

It has a rated power acceptance of 2.5W at 10A and ambient air temperature of 23C.

The FPG7 is specifically designed for automating assembly, with packaging options that facilitate faster pick-and-place operations.

Cartridge fuses are used predominantly throughout the world as an inexpensive and effective means of circuit protection.

The FPG7 is well suited in applications where an SMD type printed circuit board is used, and access to the fuse from outside through a panel of equipment is needed.

It is also ideally suited for equipment wherein PC boards are stock mounted.
