Schurter has acquired Otto Heil, located in Oberursel, Germany, giving it the most extensive range of power connector products for the international market.

Known throughout the electronics industry, the Otto Heil company has more than 50 years experience as a manufacturer and supplier of power connectors and cordsets.

It has an established network of channel partners in Europe, as well as partners in Japan and the USA.

The company's sales in 2005 were evenly split between Europen and export markets.

Under its new ownership, Otto Heil will continue to operate autonomously as a competence centre for cord connecting products within the Schurter Group.

The product range will greatly enhance Schurter's connectors business unit, which is already its largest, with a broad range of power connectors, power entry modules and associated electromagnetic filter products and accessories.

Synergies between the two companies are expected to enable quick and efficient integration.

Products will be loaded into Schurter's ERP system (SAP R3) by the end of the first quarter.

An official introduction to Schurter's channel partners will follow in the second quarter.
