DC/DC and AC/DC modules make rugged supplies

A Schaefer product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jan 10, 2008

Robust design uses industrial grade components and provides a high-density space-saving system for applications in industries such as railway controls and communications.

New from Schaefer is the C/B 2700 Series of 3U DC/DC and AC/DC convertor modules and battery chargers.

The C/B 2700's robust design uses industrial grade components and provides a high-density space-saving system for applications in industries such as railway controls and communications equipment (onboard and trackside), military applications, oil/gas processing, fuel cell applications, transportation, telecommunication systems, process control systems and power stations.

The C/B 2700 Series topology delivers up to 600W at any DC input from 18 to 380V DC, with six input range choices.

AC input options are single-phase 115 or 230V AC, as well as a three-phase input of 3 x 200V AC.

Battery charging models are also available.

Units feature single outputs in nine standard ranges from 8 to 290V DC.

All outputs are adjustable and tightly regulated to 0.2% or better (load) and 0.1% (line).

Custom input and output ranges are readily available, typically not impacting delivery and at no additional cost.

Convection cooled, these convertors perform from - 20 to +75C (derated above +55C), with an option for -40C operation.

All models feature full electronic protection and up to 92% efficiency.

EMI performance is to EN55022 Class A standards (Class B optional).

Units are packaged in a rugged 3U x 28TE x 226mm module with an optional wall mount configuration.

Other options include input inrush current limiting, DC input reverse polarity protection, output parallel/redundant operation, remote on/off, power-fail/DC-OK alarms, system reset, and programming/monitoring functions.

Further mechanical "ruggedisation" and extended environmental operating conditions for higher temperatures and humidity is also available.

Mechanical and electrical modifications to standard modules are readily available on request.

In addition, Schaefer can design and manufacture fully custom solutions.
