All guide rails are listed in the new Schroff catalogue (volume 2) and are available ex-stock.
The new range includes guide rails for mounting plug-in boards and modules with a 2 and 2.5mm groove width, these are designed to take the heavier and wider circuit boards that are increasingly being used.
If even greater rigidity is required, then a special plastic version is available with additional stiffening.
For "extreme cases" the enclosure expert has also developed a rail made of aluminium.
In CPCI systems the standard specifies different colour guide rails: red guide rails for master boards, grey for slave boards and green, with an offset of 0.1in, for 19in power supplies.
Schroff supplies all three types, now with an integral coding block and in 2.0mm groove width.
All plastic guide rails from Schroff come with an ESD clip for protecting PCB components, plus a long guide funnel for easy board insertion.
The rails can be engaged in 1.5mm-thick metal plates, and removed again without damage.
There is also the option to permanently screw the rails in place in the subrack, guaranteeing secure board positioning, even in applications that are subjected to heavy mechanical stresses.
An HP width grid is printed on the horizontal rails; by using a window in the guide rail the user can then locate the exact mounting position of the circuit board, making it far easier to fit the guide rails.
