Multichannel cards sample simultaneously

A Spectrum Systementwicklung Microelectronic product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Nov 29, 2006

Card series allows simultaneous data acquisition of up to 16 channels on each card.

The new 47xx card series from Spectrum allows simultaneous data acquisition of up to 16 channels on each card.

There are in total 15 different versions available which differ in the number of channels (eight or 16), the sampling rate (100 to 500Ksample/s) and the card type (PCI, PXI/cPCI 3U and cPCI 6U).

Each channel has its own programmable amplifier with eight input ranges between +/-50mV and +/-10V and its own ADC with 16 bit resolution.

In contrast to the common multiplex cards the 47xx cards from Spectrum offer full sampling rate of 500Ksample/s independent whether one channel is active or all 16.

This fully synchronous design also minimises crosstalk between the channels.

Using the star-hub option up to 16 cards can be synchronised in one system giving a total of 256 fully synchronous channels each with 16bit resolution and 500Ksample/s sampling rate.

Each of the channels can be trigger source for the complete system by connecting the trigger sources by OR/AND conjunction.

Besides the common standard trigger modes like level and edge or window these cards also offer a real slope (spike) trigger as well as individual pulsewidth triggers for each channel.

This may per example be used to monitor signal failures simultaneously on each channel when doing cable testing.

The cards are equipped with a standard memory of 32Msample (PCI version) or 8Msample (PXI and cPCI version).

The memory is used completely for data buffering allowing continuously streaming of data to the PC for further calculations there.

The cards are delivered with drivers for Windows and Linux as well as extended examples for C/C++, LabWindows, Delphi and Visual Basic.

The software SBench suitable for laboratory use is also included in the delivery free of charge.

Support of LabView, Matlab, DasyLab or Agilent VEE is available as an option.

The M2i.47xx card series is available in small quantities now and will enter serial production at the beginning of 2007.

Spectrum can also perform modifications or extensions for small series or even for single cards.
