Cards upgrade to industry-leading memory
capacity
Spectrum now offers a market-leading 256Mbyte of memory as standard on its M2i series cards, expandable to 4Gbyte.
The onboard memory size is one of the key specifications of fast A/D and D/A cards When using slow sampling rates of the order of kilohertz or a few megahertz, data can normally be stored online in the PC memory without major problems

Acquisition cards enter a new generation
The M2i card range covers the speed range from 200Ksample/s up to 200Msample/s with A/D resolutions of 8, 12, 14 or 16bit.
Acquisition cards add Linux support
All data acquisition and waveform generators of the M2i series are now delivered with Linux drivers suitable for Linux distributions with kernel 2.4 and kernel 2.6.
But when using higher sampling rates a large onboard memory is needed to store data on the card.
Now Spectrum has expanded the standard memory specification of its M2i series to 256Mbyte (offering 128Msample storage at 12, 14 or 16bit analogue resolution).
So, for example, each card can acquire a single 8bit channel at 200Msample/s for more than 1s.
Although the previous standard memory capacity of 64Mbyte put the M2i series cards in the upper-middle class of the market, the new 256Mbyte standard memory for Spectrum PCI, PCI-X and PCI Express cards leads the market worldwide.
Similarly, the maximum memory of 4Gbyte (allowing 2Gsample storage at 12, 14 or 16bit analogue resolution) is also at the top of the range.
Even with the increased standard memory the base card price has been reduced.
All memory option prices have also been reduced, allowing users to specify more onboard memory for the same budget.
The new standard 256Mbyte memory applies to the complete range of M2i and M2i Express cards - comprising more than 100 different A/D, D/A and digital I/O devices.
All cards in the M2i series may be synchronised using the internal sync-bus.
This allows users to generate massive parallel acquisition systems with more than 1000 channels as well as mixed-mode systems with synchronised A/D, D/A and digital I/O cards.
The card is delivered with drivers for Windows 2000, XP, Vista as well as Linux kernel 2.4 and 2.6, supporting both 32 and 64bit versions of all operating systems.
Easy-to-program drivers and powerful examples together with detailed documentation enable speedy development of user applications.
Drivers are also available for Matlab, LabView, LabWindows, DasyLab and VEE. Request a free brochure from Spectrum Systementwicklung Microelectronic ...
