Fibre interconnect board offers extended networks
The SMT145 is a fully configurable entry-level fibre interconnect signal carrier board that addresses OEM requirements for high communications throughput extended networking.
Carriers put DSP and FPGA processing into PXI
Sundance has joined the independent group of PXI compatible suppliers, with the release of a pair of PXI-compatible carrier cards.
"The arrival of SMT387 bridges the gap between TI DSPs and SATA storage devices".
"The DSP brings a clean solution to real-time applications that require data acquisition, processing and saving large amount of data to hard disks", said Thomas Brooks, TMS320C6000 Marketing Manger, TI.
The SMT387 includes two Serial ATA controllers.
It is designed for full integration with the Texas Instruments 600MHz TMS320C6415 DSP and the Xilinx Virtex-II Pro FPGA.
The SMT387 is compatible with an array of Sundance modules as either a slave or master, and can also run stand alone, using the on-module Flash for booting and control of a disk array.
This design offers the flexibility, performance and functionality needed for OEMs to design their own systems.
"SMT387 allows us to provide our customers with an even more complete solution by completely removing the bottleneck of sending data to a host PC for storage on hard disks", Sundance CEO and President Flemming Christensen said.
The SMT387 is a small footprint module that offers data processing via both the TI C6415 DSP and Virtex II VP7/VP20 Xilinx FPGA and with large data storage capability.
For interprocessor communication, the SMT387 offers four full-duplex Rocket serial link channels each capable of data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbit/s.
The SMT387 is supported on various platforms like PCI, cPCI, VXI and VME.
The SMT387 is fully supported by the SMT6087 software package that shortens development time by providing ready-to-use interface to the Serial ATA drives.
The software includes functions for data write, playback and transfer to the PC host system.
The SMT387 is available starting at $3895.
