Sundance has joined the independent group of PXI compatible suppliers, with the release of a pair of PXI-compatible carrier cards.

Sundance has joined the independent group of PXI compatible suppliers The initial Sundance offering meeting the PXI standard consists of two carrier cards, the SMT300 (3U) and SMT300Q (6U)

Sundance is the first PXI member to offer Texas Instruments (TI) TMS320C6000 DSPs in a 3U format.

TI's C6000 platform includes the 1GHz TMS3206416, the industry's fastest DSP, in both floating-point and fixed-point variations.

The SMT300 (3U) is designed to accommodate a single Sundance Texas Instruments Module (TIM).

Sundance introduced its first TIM more than 10 years ago, and has maintained compatibility with each successive generation of TI digital signal processors.

For more demanding control and instrumentation applications, multiple SMT300s can be cascaded to support multi-DSP/FPGA configurations.

The SMT300Q (6U) is designed for telecomms, imaging and other suitable applications and offers four module sites in a 6U height format.

The PXI-compliant DSPs are programmable using National Instruments' DSP Test Integration Toolkit.

Sundance also offers the largest available FPGAs from Xilinx on the PXI platform.

Sundance supports the latest version of Xilinx's Virtex II Pro, which can be used for cascading Sundance modules, featuring a built-in PowerPC core and up to 16 serial ports running at 2.5GHz.

In Q2 2004, Sundance will introduce native support for LabView, with a subsequent roadmap supporting LabView's Real Time Module.

This will enable an application written within the LabView environment to control a Sundance FPGA module.
